How to use GPA Calculator

  1. In the Grade points box, type each course's grade point separated by commas, spaces or new lines, for example 9, 8, 10, 7.
  2. In the Course credits box, enter the credits for those courses in the same order, such as 4, 3, 2, 3.
  3. Set Maximum grade-point scale to your system, for example 10 or 4.
  4. Press Calculate to get your credit-weighted GPA.
  5. Fix any error shown (such as unequal list lengths), then Copy the result or press Reset.

Supported formats and limitations

About GPA Calculator

This GPA calculator finds your credit-weighted grade point average from the grade points you earned and the credits each course carries. Courses with more credits count more, just as they do on your mark sheet. It works on any numeric scale, including the 10-point scale used by many Indian universities for SGPA and CGPA and the 4-point scale common in the US.

College students use it to check a semester result before it is published, plan the grades they need, or verify a transcript. Enter grade points as numbers, not letter grades, because every university maps letters to points differently. The scale you enter is used to check that no grade point is above the maximum; the result is shown on that same scale, not converted.

Features

  • Credit-weighted average: Σ(grade point × credits) ÷ Σ credits
  • Works on 10-point, 4-point or any custom maximum scale
  • Accepts values separated by commas, spaces, semicolons or new lines
  • Supports decimal grade points and credits
  • Checks that lists match and grades stay within the scale

Why use it

  • Know your SGPA or GPA before official results arrive
  • Plan which courses can lift your average the most
  • Double-check your transcript for errors
  • Handles a whole semester in one go, privately in your browser

Formula used

GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) / Σ(credits).

Examples

SGPA on a 10-point scale

Input: Grade points 9, 8, 10, 7; Course credits 4, 3, 2, 3; Maximum scale 10

Result: 8.4167

Your credit-weighted SGPA is about 8.42 out of 10.

GPA on a 4-point scale

Input: Grade points 4, 3.7, 3.3; Course credits 3, 4, 3; Maximum scale 4

Result: 3.67

The weighted GPA is 3.67 out of 4.

GPA Calculator: frequently asked questions

How is a credit-weighted GPA calculated?

Multiply each course's grade point by its credits, add those products, and divide by the total credits. For grade points 9, 8, 10 and 7 with credits 4, 3, 2 and 3, the sum is 101 over 12 credits, giving about 8.42. This means a 4-credit course affects your GPA twice as much as a 2-credit course, which matches how most universities compute SGPA.

Can I enter letter grades like A, B+ or O?

No. The calculator only accepts numeric grade points, because each university assigns different points to each letter. For example, an O might be 10 at one university and an A+ might be 10 at another. Look up the grade-point table in your university's ordinance or mark sheet and enter those numbers instead.

What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?

SGPA is the credit-weighted average for one semester, while CGPA is the average across all semesters completed so far. You can use this tool for either: enter one semester's courses for SGPA, or enter every course from all semesters for CGPA. Some universities compute CGPA from semester SGPAs weighted by credits, which gives the same result.

Does the scale field convert my GPA to another scale?

No. The Maximum grade-point scale is used to check that no grade point is higher than the maximum, and the result stays on that same scale. It does not convert a 10-point GPA to a 4-point GPA. Conversions between scales are set by each institution or admissions office, so use their official method.

Will my result match my official mark sheet?

It should if you enter the same grade points and credits your university uses, but rules differ. Some institutions exclude failed, audit or non-credit courses, count repeat attempts differently, or round results to two decimals. This tool shows the weighted average to up to 4 decimal places, such as 8.4167, so check your institution's regulations for how official figures are rounded.
